If you need to improve your English language to reach the required level for your programme at the International Study Centre, you can take our English Language Preparation programme.
You will need an IELTS 4.5 (minimum 5.0 in writing and no other element less than 4.0) or equivalent to start the International Foundation Year. If you have IELTS 4.0 (4.0 in all bands) or equivalent, you will need one term of English Language Preparation.
This course has two start dates, depending when you begin your International Foundation Year.
June, prior to starting your academic programme in September. (not available in June 2019)
September, prior to starting your academic programme in January.
You will need an IELTS 5.5 overall (5.5 in all components) or equivalent to start the International Year One. If you have IELTS 4.5 (4.0 in all bands) or equivalent, you will need one term of English Language Preparation. You can start in in June or September before starting the International Year One in September or January respectively. (Please note June 2019 intake is not available)
We also offer English Language Preparation free to any student joining the International Year One who meets the previous International Year One IELTS requirement of 5.0 overall.
There are 2 options available:
4 week course – for students with IELTS 5.5 but lower component scores
8 week course – for students with IELTS 5.0 overall
Our Pre-Masters Programme requires an IELTS 5.5 in all components, or equivalent. If you have IELTS 5.0 (with no component less than 4.5), or equivalent, you will need one term of English Language Preparation.
This course has two start dates:
Please note - Students taking an English Language Preparation for International Year One or English Language Preparation for Pre-Masters Programme will study on a B2 GSV visa as these courses are not included as part of the combined visa – this allows them to make the ICAS application in the UK for a combined visa for their pathway and degree study, as well as allowing them to remain in the UK before starting their pathway.
