What is the International Year One?

The International Year One is designed to prepare international students to join the second year of an undergraduate degree at Kingston University London. If you would like to get the most out of studying abroad, this programme is offered in three insightful, varied pathways, and will allow you the opportunity to progress to a number of exciting degrees, in a range of different subjects.

What you will study

The International Year One is made up of several core and route-specific modules that will better your understanding of your chosen subject area. Depending on your choice of pathway, you can cater your modules to benefit your future career path. The course will also incorporate English language tuition, which will be focused on improving your speaking, writing and academic language skills, and prepare you for learning in a second language.

English language preparation

If you need to improve your level of English language to enter the International Year One, additional Online English language training is available. You will need an Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 overall (min 4.5 in all skills) or equivalent to study the English Language Preparation Online for International Year One.

5 weeks before your selected course you will be automatically enrolled in our Prepare for Success online programme in order to help you get everything you need. You'll benefit from useful insights into studying abroad and have the opportunity to gain key skills before you start your pathway programme.

Assessments during this programme

There are assessments at the end of each module, which are a combination of examinations, coursework, presentations and extended essays. Continuous assessment is also a feature of the course with lectures, small group seminar work and self directed study.
